Like the Layrub range from which it’s derived, the Multi-Point coupling design employs pre-compressed rubber blocks arranged in a machined steel housing. The blocks are mounted in parallel, in sets of 8, 9, 10 or 12 per flange.
The capabilities of the standard range may be extended through customer configurations to suit specific application requirements. This includes the design of shaft assemblies, including fixed-length and telescopic units.
The rubber block forms the basis of the Multi-Point design, accommodating movement in all directions. This makes the coupling s exceptionally tolerant of relative displacements and enables control of torsional stiffness for the tuning of systems subject to torsional vibration.
Flexible shafts, consisting of couplings, connected by fixed-length or telescopic centre shafts, will tolerate very large movements with minimal shaft reaction forces.
The marine and rail industries utilise flexible couplings to absorb shock loads, reduce noise and vibration, and to provide damping and control of torsional vibration. In engine test and dynamometer applications, Multi-Point couplings accommodate high input speeds while offering a maintenance-free solution to the applications damping requirements.
